Not sure how this helps, but still worth mentioning. Without it, the launcher simply will not let you log in. Minecraft/bin called "version". However, after some googling, it appears offline only works if you had a file in.
And then just download , , and. Minecraft/versions/b1.7.3 to the bin folder, and rename it to minecraft.jar. Minecraft called bin, and then open a command prompt in the bin folder and enter in "type NUL > version", then, open the "version" file with a hex editor (I use Frhed) and enter in "00 0d 31 33 35 35 39 39 39 32 34 33 30 30 30" and then copy 1.7.3 jar from from.
Minecraft/bin/natives (the natives folder won't be there, make a folder called natives) Then simply run the launcher, and it will work in offline.
